Johnson’s Lair

Vernon Lloyd Johnson is a young and up and coming public health professional. He received his bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Management from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale in May of 2009. He will receive his master’s in Public Health with a specialization in Community Health Education from Southern Illinois in August of 2011. Vernon hails from Flossmoor, IL. His specialties & interests include sexual assault awareness, environmental justice, sexual health, public health, health education, health disparities with marginalized groups, mentoring, poetry, politics, art, and music (blues, soul, hip-hop, jazz, rap, r&b, alternative rock, etc.), and a bevy of other topics.

Now that the formalities are out the way (and talking in the 3rd person!), I’m happy that you have decided to check out me and my fellow brothers as we try to do something that goes against the grind. I want to embrace the idea of being progressive in our everyday lives. Muhammad Ali once said, “The man who views the world at 50 the same as he did at 20 has wasted 30 years of his life.” We have to progress each day in our lives.

I tend at times to be quiet and somewhat private. This blog experience is a big step for me, so don’t make fun of me! This is a positive outlet for me to convey my feelings in a way that is constructive in nature. I am excited for this opportunity, and hope you enjoy “All Things Considered!” (Keep Reading…)
